Force-free and effective

It’s no secret, games, praise, food, toys and clear signals are my chosen tools of the trade. Training methods that are rewarding and force-free have been proven to produce much more effective and sustainable results that ‘traditional’ forceful training techniques. By infusing modern science with compassion we can achieve the best outcome for both dog and human.

My methods are clear – I use Positive Reinforcement (R+) to reward desired dog behaviours with quality treats, games, toys and affection. To inform a dog that the behaviour they are offering is unwanted I remove their rewards, teach them alternative behaviours and manage their environment so they are set up to succeed. Through this honest and supportive approach I am clearly signalling which behaviour I want from the dog, while motivating them to offer more positive behaviours. Food, games and praise can be viewed as a currency that dogs value and understand. It’s easy to spot a dog who is trained with modern methods because they’re so eager to please.

My ethos is simple – be kind. I avoid correcting or punishing a dog with physical or verbal force, I’ve found it to be counter-productive and unnecessary. My aim is to provide you with tools that allow for positive experiences for both you and your dog, as this is essential for successful learning.

Most importantly, I use force-free methods because feelings of happiness and safety cannot be forced!
